Happies and Crappies 4/21

Quickly... Happies
  • Isaac has been very adorable and charming lately. He crawled into bed with me the other night. I told him he had to sleep in his own bed, and he said "But I need someone to cuddle with". Awwwww
  • My mom and dad did not accept the offer made on our house. This goes under Happies because if they accepted the offer they would have to be out of this house before my house would have been done. This will make my move less pressured and an easier transition (hopefully).
  • I found a fabulous TV console at the Pottery Barn Outlet for dirt cheap. It's an outcast from Williams and Sonoma home that retailed for over 1200 initially. I didn't pay anywhere near that. =)
  • I really enjoy the fact that it is no longer dark when I am getting up and off to work in the morning. It is not nearly as painful to drag myself out of bed when the sun is shining.
Crappies
  • It has been raining forever now... I miss outdoor recess. I am over the rain!
  • Work is really stressful right now, mostly because of one isolated student/situation. Sadly, it does not seem like the situation will be resolved before the end of the year. *Sigh* Six more weeks...
  • My parents are going out of town for a few days for my sister's graduation and my cousin's sealing. It is always a little bit stressful/lonely when they are gone but now I have the added stress of keeping the house ready to show at any moment.
  • I am becoming so obsessed with everything I need/want for my move. It is making me feel materialistic and selfish. I don't like it.
  • This morning I was driving to work. There is a small concrete bridge about two blocks from my house. It is pretty narrow-- technically two cars can go across at once, but I wouldn't try to go across it when a bus was coming the other way. Well I was a litte too close to the side today and I scraped the whole side of my car against it and ripped a huge hole in my tire. Oh, and I also have no mirror. Fortuneatly AAA came promptly and helped me get on the road, and I was only even a few minutes late to work. Tomorrow I will hear how much the whole episode has damaged my wallet. And now I get to drive around a car with a big scrape on the side. Man...

The two cutest kids on the planet finally meet...

I love the fact that you can print unlimited coupons for a free game of bowling Mon-Thursday good for up to five people. If you only play one game, it's just three bucks to rent shoes. (and is it sad that I go bowling so often I am considering buying shoes??). Budget friendly outing! So we asked my friend Becca and her sweet nephew Noah to join us. Noah and Isaac have been trying to get together for literally about three years and it just never happens. But finally the planets aligned and their playdate worked out. And, Isaac tied me at 101. Yikes...

Updates - Quickly

Me * I can't stop watching HGTV. The househunting and design shows are on heavy rotation. * My work is crazy but still fun. Less than eight weeks until the end of the school year!! My first year has FLOWN by and we are already doing IEPs and ordering supplies for next year. Crazy! Isaac * Tied mom in bowling tonight! We both bowled a 101. If you bowl on a Mon-Thursday at Devon Lanes you can bowl for free (up to five people!) for your first game. All you have to pay for is shoes. It's such a good deal. The house * I put on some boots and tromped through my house today-- the "pre-electrical walk through". It was so fun! We marked out where I want all of the phone and cable jacks. Things are really starting to come together. Even though it is still 2 by 4s and subflooring it already feels cozy. If the weather cooperates we will have our pre-closing walk through May 29th. I am really looking forward to moving us in and starting to make it my own. =D Well I guess that's about it. =)

Phrases you only Utter When you are a Mutter..

or, in this case Grandmutter. =P "Liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisa. Isaac put lotion all over the cat". Isaac was playing quietly in his room. A little TOO quietly. I found him naked, COVERED in lotion, and lotion spread over his TV, the rug and the carpet. And evidently the cat... I tried to scold him but it was pretty much hilarious. Why would he put lotion on the CAT?

Nauseated....

So I was called in to County jury duty today for the first time ever. I don't know what I was expecting. But it wasn't to find that I would sitting for a murder trial. Of two adults and one unborn baby. The defendent was sitting right there. Is that normal? It really freaked me out. And the general details they gave us (the 50 randomly selected jurors) were disturbing enough for me to almost start crying. Like, I had to keep my eyes really open and use all of my strength not to burst into tears. Here is far more detail than they gave us in the courtroom. About a 1/3 of the jurors had heard of the case. I hadn't-- but then again, I live under a rock: http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=14665467&BRD=1679&PAG=461&dept_id=86218&rfi=6 And they were seeking the death penalty. Which I am not sure how I feel. I used to be very for the death penalty. But, I have had a hard times coming to terms with the hypocrisy of being staunchly pro-life and supporting the death penalty. And it is fine to think about the death penalty in the abstract. It is another to be on a panel where you decide if a man will spend his life in prison or will be executed. They asked us a ton of questions about moral, religious, ethical beliefs that would make us impartial on a death penalty case. Although I did not indicate that the death penalty being involved in this case would make me impartial, I really don't know if I could be a part of a trial that sentenced a man to death... I was relieved to be dismissed. This was their tenth day of selecting jury members. The trial starts tomorrow and I am very relieved to NOT be a part of it.

Our house is

Well sort of. We are still going back and forth with the couple who put in a (low) offer. But I think it will work out. Which is exciting because it will be no more showing the house! YAY! They are looking at a May 29th closing date. I will let you know when I know MY closing date. Hopefully I won't end up homeless for a bit in between.

Check it out
