So I was debating joining the throngs of Philly people heading to the shore today, when my mom convinced me to join her and my dad for a day at the Kutztown Folk Festival. When I hear Folk Festival I think dirty hippies (which is totally cool!) but this was more PA dutch. It was a good time, despite the absolutely sweltering weather (high 90s with very little shade).

Old fashioned merry go round (pulled by that horse).

Oogling Amish quilts. Isaac announced loudly that quilting was "a good thing for old ladies to do". Several old ladies turned around and chuckled. One of my favorites.
All of the food was PA Dutch type. Seriously, gross.
Eis Kalt Lemon Drinka
Picking up some new profanity.
Bubble machine/organ.
Isaac rode around through the dust in one of those little tin can cars.
This was fun.
I felt so bad for this sheep but it just sat there. As the man explained, when you take it's legs out from under it, it has no power...
Hex signs.

That looks like an awesome Volksfest - folk festival, that is. It's fun to see and hear the PA Dutch because it's like garbled dirty Bavarian German. (And I love me some dirty Bavarian German!)

Okay, that looks pretty fun! Maybe we'll watch for that next year, because that's my kind of fun, and it didn't look nearly as crowded as everything else seemed to be!

It was great coming up to your ward last week. I was going to come up and say hi since I've admitted to being one of your blog readers, but I didn't get the chance. But it was fun seeing you anyway! I can't believe how big Isaac is getting! He seems so much bigger than when he was a new Sunbeam!

Check it out
