What is the difference btwn a elementary cert and elementary ed? I am working on my Masters in early childhood ed and down here at least you can get a post bachelors cert or get your Masters if your undergrad is in something else, which mine is. Just curious and maybe it varies by state...which is another whole topic about how I think the states should be consistent.

It's very confusing. I am certified in special education. I have taken the Praxis exams for elementary ed which makes me highly qualified according to NCLB but I still need to take more classes to be certified in elementary education. When I was interviewing it was obvious that the better districts preferred me to have both special education certification AND elementary certification. I might not want to work for an impoverished low performing district forever, so getting the second cert would open my options up.

Ah, that makes sense. And I totally agree that both is better.
