Easter Recap

We are coming off a great Easter weekend.  Saturday the weather was warming up.  It was windy but we were determined to do something outdoors.  We left Hannah with my mom and my dad joined us for some mini-golf.  Of course he killed us.

Serious mini-golfing right here.

It was pretty windy and chilly but we still had a great time.  It was nice for me and Ryan to give our undivided attention to Isaac.

Meanwhile, Hannah found some time to relax.

My parents were willing to watch the kids, so Ryan and I snuck off for dinner and a movie.  Hannah slept all night in the pack and play for the first time EVER!

Easter morning was lots of fun.  Ryan and I cooked a big breakfast for everyone.  The kids dyed eggs.

My dad convinced me to go on a motorcycle ride with him.  I was pretty nervous, but it was actually very pretty to go for a ride on such a nice day around the scenic farmland.

My mom had planned a bunch of fun Easter activities.  We had to throw eggs into hula hoops.

We did egg on a spoon races.

She had an egg hunt for Isaac and a separate one for Hannah.  Hannah did a great job putting the eggs in her basket once Ryan got her started.

And of course, there was plenty of time for pick up games of basketball and sessions of catch with grandpa.

Spring break has flown by and tomorrow is back to school.  It has been such a nice few days I will be so sad to see it end.

Ten on Tuesday - Easter Recap edition

one
Today was my first day back to school after a pitifully short spring break (Thank you Hurricane Sandy!).  I managed to get to work on time, so I will count that as a success in my book.

two
I decided to wear the dress I was going to wear to my brother's wedding to church on Easter.  Cute dress, terrible facial expression, right?

three
Isaac actually spent Easter morning at his dad's house.  We picked him up in the afternoon and headed out to Lancaster for an egg hunt and a nice dinner with my parents and brother Joe.  Isaac was so proud to divvy up the hard boiled eggs that he and my mother had dyed earlier in the week. And then he burst into tears when Ryan cracked and ate his.  "I worked so hard on those!" he sobbed.

four
I picked up Les Miserables from the library today.  It is number 34 on my 101 in 1001.  .I am feeling behind on that whole project.  All I am accomplishing reading tons of books.  Technically, this is just reading a book too, but at least it is a new item to cross off.  They only gave me a few weeks until it is due back, so I better get cracking since it is about a million pages long.

five
My neighbor still has Christmas lights up on his porch and around his garage.  I am annoyed the HOA hasn't said anything to him.  Mostly because I am bitter that ONE TIME I left my trashcan in the street and they sent me a harsh written warning.  I guess I shouldn't be surprised though.  This is the same neighbor that ONLY stained the parts of his deck he can see.

six
Also, remember last week when I blogged about getting up close and personal with my neighbor's dirty laundry?  Same guy.  So I guess I better just keep my mouth closed.

seven
This old guy at work asked me if I am being a good wife and cooking lots of wonderful meals for my husband.  I had to resist rolling my eyes and informed him that we have a modern and progressive marriage where we share cooking and household chores.  Usually whoever is home from work first cooks.  Ryan some made bangin' chili last night.  Ridiculously good!

eight
We received two Fandango gift cards for our wedding and we decided to use them over Spring break.  We saw Oz the Great and Powerful with Isaac. Ryan and Isaac seemed to like it but I couldn't get into it.  I legit passed out for like the first half of the movie.  The worst part was, I woke up in the second half of the movie, and really hadn't missed anything. I had no trouble following the second half.

nine
Just Ryan and I returned to the movies later that night to see The Host.  I had really enjoyed the book and had forced Ryan to read it in preparation for the movie.  It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either.  Overall, kind of an underwhelming weekend for movies.

ten
Tuesday night is Splash, me and Isaac's new show.  Kareem Abdul-Jabar and Louey Anderson doing synchronized swan dives?  Hosted by Joey Lawrence? You can't make this up!  Isaac and I watched it over and over again cracking up.

Have a great day everyone!

yesterday

Yesterday, Isaac slept till after 9 o'clock for the first time in AGES.  We went with Ryan and his girls to Hershey Park the day before and didn't get home till very late at night.  A good time was had by all.  Isaac even rode on his first real rollercoasters: the Comet and the Wild Mouse.   He and Allison did a great job reading the map and keeping themselves busy with a rock, paper, scissors challenge.

Yesterday, Isaac wore cords, a plaid button up shirt, appropriate colored socks and church shoes without one word of arguing.  Since getting dressed every day has been a battle, this has been a major accomplishment.

Yesterday, I remembered again how much I love Sarah McLachan.  I listened to her for about two hours while doing homework and screwing around on the computer.  Hold On will always be one of my favorite songs by her.

Yesterday, I started this book that my friend Evelyne loaned to me.  It is the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants girls at age 30.  I am only 60 pages in and I can already tell I may have to devote every spare minute in the next few days reading it.  I know they are cheesey, but I love those books.

Yesterday, I made cookies that turned out... eh.  I got confused and thought I was supposed to bring dessert for Easter dinner.  I brought them to my parents house and (as expected) my brother's declared them to be "dry and crunchy".  Good thing my mom had still made our traditional bunny cake.   I never claimed to be domestic people.  But I do try.

Yesterday, I finally got a jump on some of my grad school homework that I have need to get accomplished on spring break.  There is more to go, but at least I did something.

Yesterday, when we were driving out to my mom's house we heard "Baby One More Time" on the radio.  I made a comment to Ryan that I would much rather hear her song "Stronger".  He whipped out his phone and had Stronger playing on the stereo within a minute.  It sounds silly but it put a goofy grin on my face.

Yesterday, Isaac was happy with his Easter presents (we don't do Santa or the Easter Bunny here), but he did pass the comment that there wasn't as much candy as he was expecting.

Yesterday, I lived and loved life with my family.  I sang my favorite hymns at church.  I contemplated the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Savior. We spent time together as a family and with loved ones.  Isaac had a blast playing with Ryan, my brothers and my dad.   Happy Easter!
